Traditional Ivory Indo-Kirman
The digital pictures we display have the most accurate colors possible, but we cannot be responsible for individual monitor settings.
The rugs of Kirman have always been among the most easily recognized and beautiful textiles of Persian, with curvilinear, graceful floral designs in a brilliant variety of colorations. The dyes of Kirman are varied and imaginative with an enormous number of shades available. Consistently, from the 1870’s through the 1930’s, the carpets of Kirman were exquisitely conceived and executed, with a more thorough development of design than one finds elsewhere. The designers were encouraged to be inventive by their status in the city and were among the most respected local artisans. It is likely that they have contributed more to the art form of carpet weaving than the remaining designers from all of the rest of Persia. Inspiration for the Ivory Indo-Kirman design is an original Indo-Kirman carpet woven circa 1910. Karastan’s elegant interpretation contains a rich palette of 30 individually dyed colors including indigo, soft blues, peach-corals, golds, lavender, and a multitude of soft greens. It has been specifically colored to coordinate with our pattern #705, ‘Navy Panel Kirman’ <<back to search results
